Pandoc GUI

What it is

A modern desktop interface for Pandoc, for people who convert documents and would rather not memorise its options.

What it does

Choose input and output formats, a PDF engine and styling options, and convert, singly or in batches, with presets for jobs you repeat.

Features

  • Many formats: Markdown, RST, LaTeX, DOCX, HTML, Org, EPUB, ODT, RTF to PDF, DOCX, HTML, EPUB, ODT, LaTeX, PPTX and more
  • PDF engines: Tectonic (zero-config), LuaLaTeX, XeLaTeX, pdfLaTeX; features auto-disable when a required tool is missing
  • Page-number formats, dark-mode output for PDF, HTML and EPUB
  • Saved presets and six interface themes

Capabilities

Documentation and writing workflows: Markdown to PDF/DOCX/EPUB, DOCX to Markdown, themed screen-reading PDFs.

Compatibility

  • macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows (installer/MSI), Linux (AppImage, deb, rpm)
  • Pandoc is required (the README links the installer, `brew install pandoc`); PDF output needs a PDF engine, several of which the app can manage

Availability

Free, MIT licensed. Version 2.1.1, 2026-01-09, on GitHub Releases.

Under the hood

Tauri v2 (@tauri-apps/api 2.9) with a web front-end that drives the Pandoc binary.
