Poser: setting up a pose rig (sped up), then live at normal speed
The full demo, building poses and wiring Poser in the Rive editor, sped up 9x (about one minute).
Tools
A Rive scripting library that turns cursor motion into blend weights for up to six authored pose timelines, with an optional path-shaped hitbox.
Poser: move the cursor, the pose follows.
A Rive scripting library: a Node script, `Poser`, that converts cursor motion into ViewModel blend weights, and an optional Path Effect script, `PoserHitboxHelper`, that gives it a hitbox in the shape of a path. It is shipped as a library file (`poser-lib.rev`) and is part of the Rive Open Source Script Library.
You author up to six pose timelines (center, left, right, top, bottom and an optional click pose), bind each timeline's weight to a ViewModel number, and attach `Poser` to a node. As the cursor moves over the hitbox, `Poser` writes the blend weights, so the character or object leans toward the cursor; on exit it eases back.
Cursor-following characters, buttons and objects that lean, look or deform toward the pointer, driven by poses you key by hand rather than by code.
Open source, in the Open-Source Rive Script Library on Rive Community since 7 March 2026: `poser-lib.rev` and its user guide download from the library page, and a showcase post has the demo and a description.
The consumer-facing scripts are `Poser` and `PoserHitboxHelper`; internal modules under `lib/` do the hitbox sampling (adaptive `cubicTo`/`quadTo` sampling of path contours) and the weight math.
