Rive Playground

Browser-based tool for loading, inspecting and testing interactive Rive files: asset replacement, event mapping, a file parser and a debug console. No install.

Client: IVG Design

Rive Playground (Rive Tester)

What it is

A web app for testing interactive Rive files in a browser tab. It was my first Rive tool, before RAV, and RAV is its desktop successor.

What it does

Load a `.riv`, see its artboards, state machines and inputs, play and trigger them, replace embedded assets, and watch every event in a console.

Features

  • File parser and inspector for artboards, animations, state machines and inputs
  • Asset Manager to replace embedded images/fonts in real time
  • Event Mapper with comprehensive event logging and a debugger with per-category controls
  • Documentation site (MkDocs) with quick start, user guide and API reference

Capabilities

Quick checks of a file's inputs and events without installing anything; debugging state-machine triggers and asset swaps.

Compatibility

  • Any modern browser; hosted on GitHub Pages, or run locally with a static server (`python -m http.server`)

Availability

Free, public repository (MIT badge in README), hosted at ivg-design.github.io/rive_dev_playground. Latest tag v1.4.6 (2025-06-06).

Under the hood

Static HTML and JavaScript on the Rive web runtime, with an MkDocs documentation site; no build step needed to run it.
