The brief

TechSmith hired me through Upwork for micro animations for Camtasia. They supplied the source vectors (sixteen cursor, arrow and hand icons, plus bag, bar-chart and battery glyphs) and a sample video of the click effect they had in mind: animated click indicators that show where a cursor clicks in a screen recording.

The build

Each of the sixteen cursors got a click animation in three styles: one cartoony and two realistic versions, plus a cropped click-only file for each. The calendar set covers seven icons (calendar, check, date, day, event, month and range), each in a fill and a line version at 320×320 and 60 fps, and a weekday set runs Monday to Sunday in both styles. Battery (charging, half, empty), bag and bar-chart icons round out the set. Most files are between 5 and 45 KB.

The delivered experience

The files went to TechSmith as Lottie JSON. The calendar set was handed over as a zip archive dated 9 June 2022; the click set went out with a contact-sheet HTML page that plays the whole set at once and a 10-second render of all the clicks together, and a second round of cursors followed in February 2024.
