TechSmith Animated Icon Sets

TechSmith / Animated icon sets / 2024–2025

A library, built one set at a time.

My role: Icon animation and Lottie export

Delivered: Batches of animated Lottie icons with matching still versions and HTML previews, February 2024 to May 2025

Tools: After Effects, Bodymovin/Lottie, Illustrator

The brief

TechSmith kept sending icon sets to animate, a batch at a time. This followed earlier icon, emphasis-effect and cursor work I had done for the same team.

The build

The sets, in order: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular status icons (February 2024); call controls and caption and live toggles (March); a Microsoft Fluent comment set (March–April); comic emphasis words, WOW, BOOM and WHAM (April–July); 23 Fluent mail icons on one 3000×2000 artboard (August–September); brush-stroke annotations such as arrows, circles, underlines and shapes (January–February 2025); and Fluent arrows (May 2025). Small icons are 500×500 compositions. From the mail set on, every icon ships as an animated file and a separate still.

The delivered experience

Each batch went out as Lottie JSON with HTML previews; revisions were re-issued as fix versions (for example the mail set's '_fix1' to '_fix3' files in September 2024). A selection is below, starting with the full mail set.
