Animated icon set for TechSmith -- the sixth engagement in a multi-year relationship that started in 2021. By this point, Justin and I had a well-established workflow. These were Microsoft Fluent UI-style icons (mail, calendar, cellular, inbox, etc.) animated as Lottie files for integration into TechSmith's products.
Each icon needed distinct motion -- a mail icon shakes, a calendar flips, an inbox bounces -- while staying visually cohesive as a set. The animations were organized into delivery sets (Set 4, Set 5, etc.) as the library grew.
Emphasis effect animations for TechSmith's Camtasia screen recording and video editing software. This was the flagship project in a six-engagement, four-year relationship that included Lottie element packs, animated icons, an animated font, 3D render adjustments, and this emphasis effects suite.
The emphasis effects ship inside Camtasia itself. When a user wants to draw attention to something on screen -- a cursor click, a UI element, a callout -- they drop in one of these effects. That means the animations needed to work within Camtasia's rendering pipeline, scale to any resolution, and look clean on any background.
The project spanned over two years (May 2023 to September 2025). New effects were added, existing ones refined, and the library grew as TechSmith expanded Camtasia's feature set.
After Effects with Bodymovin/Lottie export for animations running in Camtasia's web-based rendering context. Each effect was built with expression-driven controls so TechSmith's team could adjust parameters (duration, color, intensity) without reopening After Effects. Included fire effects, dynamic highlight elements, and cursor attention animations, all tested across multiple resolutions and backgrounds.
55 After Effects project files; 22 Lottie JSON animations; expression-driven parameter controls; multi-resolution export packages; integration documentation for the Camtasia product team.
Four-year, six-engagement relationship with TechSmith. 5.0/5.0 rating.
